Nothing stays a secret for long in Eastenders and memories are certainly long! Pauline sank to new depths in tonight’s episode by throwing grapes, apples and assorted fruit off the Fowler fruit and vegetable stall into the floor, whilst Martin could only look on.

Martin had never really wanted to work on the family stall but had made a name for himself during the last year. So, it was sad to see how spiteful Pauline could be towards her own son. Much exchanges of insults ensued between Peggy and Pauline about their respective “faaaaaamilies”.

Joe decided to develop a backbone and confronted Pauline about the state of their marriage and her behaviour. He picked up photographs of her children and first husband in turn, uttering some home truths - son Mark “diseased”, daughter Michelle “a slapper”, beloved husband Arthur “ex-con who cheated on her”. So much for her perfect family! Pauline took off her wedding rings and whacked him over the head (was it a frying pan? - Pauline used one of those on Arthur).

Stacey found out that Bradley had lied to her about the “no guest rule” for his firm’s party  and decided to turn up unannounced. She put on her best chav gear - tartan mini skirt, black top, thigh high black boots and a make-up overdose and joined the room full of toffs. Will she fit in? I think we already know the answer to that question.
