Tonight’s episode of the soap, saw Billy, Honey and Petal arrive back in the square and still intent on putting up baby Petal for foster care. Dawn went to have an abortion, but decided instead to spend the £200 that Rob had given her to buy some designer clothes, and get an abortion on the NHS. Some dirty mags were found in Darren Miller’s bedroom but Keith passed the buck of a friendly father-to-son chat on to Kevin Wicks.
The main story though was around Pauline and the party that Peggy Mitchell was putting on to raise money to help treat Pauline’s “brain tumour”. Peggy showed her empathetic side by visiting Pauline to say “I know what you are going through”. Peggy survived breast cancer a few years ago.
It left long-suffering husband Joe, Martin and Sonia, Dot and Jim in a difficult position knowing that people were raising money for Pauline (who has definitely turned into her mother Lou Beale) whilst living a lie. Joe tried to tell Peggy that Pauline did not want the fuss, until Martin admitted that Pauline had lied. The episode ended in traditional Eastenders cliff-hanger style with Peggy about to make a big announcement to her party guests.
