Derek Branning gave Michael Moon a severe beating tonight when he tried to look after his brothers Anthony and Tyler. However, while Michael Moon literally laid back and let Derek Branning beat him to a pulp he was unaware that Janine had already called around and paid off the brothers debt of £8000. So why did Derek Branning continue to give Michael Moon a beating?

There is history between Michael Moon and Derek Branning which goes back many years although it is not totally clear exactly what went on between the two of them. However, there is no love lost between them and Michael has attempted on many occasions to get under the skin of Derek and literally get him thrown back into jail. Derek Branning currently thinks that Tyler and Anthony “grassed him” to the police with regards to their arrest the night before. However, little does he know that it was actually Michael Moon who called the police as he attempted to get rid of him once and for all.

So far the two younger Moon brothers have not dropped Michael in trouble with Derek by telling him about the fact that he locked Anthony in the gym. However, the penny has finally dropped with the two younger brothers and they are now fully aware that Michael is the most likely candidate for grassing to the police. Even though he has taken a severe beating for his two younger brothers this was all to no avail because Derek Branning, the evil man that he is, is still set on revenge and still looking to find out who told the police what he had been up to.

It has been some time since we saw violence of this particular nature on Eastenders even know we only really saw the before and after. However, even from the limited angles we saw Michael Moon laying on the ground he has taken a severe thumping. How will Janine react when she finds out what has gone on and what will Derek do next to try and stamp his authority on Albert Square?
