astacey.jpgThe current main storyline on Eastenders relates to Stacey Slater and her apparent downward spiral into a form of mental illness. While this may well attract headlines and increase viewing figures for Eastenders there is something a little disturbing about the way in which the downward spiral is being filmed and shown on TV. Have the writers of Eastenders gone a little too far this time?

It would appear that the death of Danielle and various other problems in her personal life have tipped Stacey over the edge and she appears to the verge of a mental breakdown. Her mother, who herself has suffered from mental illness in the past, has quickly noticed the tell-tale signs and has given Stacey some food for thought. It is hoped that she can snap out of her depression and get the necessary advice and assistance to control what could potentially be a case of bipolar.

Elsewhere, while Ronnie and Jack appear to be happy, life is full of downs and downs for Billy as he is currently being blackmailed by Nick Cotton and has unfortunately paid the first instalment of his blood money. How will Billy’s story pan out? Will Ronnie and Jack be happy together? Will Stacey snap out of her downward depressive spiral?
