As many Eastenders fans look toward to this afternoon’s omnibus edition many are perplexed and confused as to how the scriptwriters managed to get it “so wrong”. We have had literally hundreds and hundreds of complaints about the Danielle and Ronnie storyline with many Eastenders fans suggesting they will never watch the soap again. So how did the scriptwriters read it so wrong with the public and what can they do to correct it?
Unfortunately, while many fans of the show would like to see Danielle return, this is not possible now that she is officially dead - and we await what promises to be an emotional funeral episode. Ronnie is also having significant problems with Danielle’s foster father who appears to blame her for the death of his foster daughter. While Danielle may be gone it would appear there are far reaching consequences for both Archie and Ronnie with rumours that Peggy asks Phil to “kill Archie” and a suggestion that Ronnie is headed back to Spain with a broken heart.
Hopefully, Eastenders scriptwriters have “learnt their lesson” as this has been one of the most controversial and emotional storylines for some time but one which has on the whole upset many fans of the show. Whether there is any long-term damage to the ratings remains to be seen but possibly in hindsight the death of Danielle so soon into the storyline was an error?

Did they really think in the Danielle arc that we wanted to see the girl run down by a car after slow-burning the story for months, just so we could watch Ronnie being emotionally battered? And in lieu of a decent resolution to this story, did they think we’d rather see Archie being tortured?
Your own poll shows 93% of people thought this was a bad move. It was catastrophic writing. Anyone with empathy for the characters should have seen how bad this looked from a mile away.
They should find a way to bring her back if the ratings plummet, which they deserve to. The dubious pleasure of watching Ian Beale accusing Stacey of nicking a cup of tea, or Heather the dateless wonder pregnant, Archie bound and gagged with his date with a cement mixer or Tanya loving it up with Max after burying him alive, come on!
Your best storyline was the one you decimated last week and if you have any real respect for the viewers, you will make efforts to bring back the character. It would hardly be the most outlandish plot you’ve ever scripted.
They thought the viewers would find it boring to watch Ronnie and Danielle interact. So they’re just sticking with showing us Ronnie’s neverending and spiraling grief on top of…neverending and spiraling grief.
How did they get it so wrong? They put one night of ratings over the best storyline they’d ever written and didn’t listen to the viewers. It’s going to take something pretty grand to win their trust back, and the only way they’ll earn mine is by correcting their mistake and doing what they should have done in the first place - by bringing the character back.
hmmm.. well i won’t be wasting much time following any of the stories.. i have been glued to the box for the last 6 months chasing the danielle and ronnie story and all for what? so what is the point of following any of the stories? like nearly everyone in the uk, i wanted to see them bond, etc.. they could of taken it anywhere they wanted to as the chemistry between danielle and ronnie really worked well.. oh well it’s deadenders now…

All i can say is i agree with the above - I have watched Eastenders for years and years - and i only watch this soap and very occasional other programmes. I have to say I feel that strongly about what they have done I will not be watching Eastenders in future - and I urge others to vote with the remote too !!! What planet were you on!!

Can’t believe it I balled my eyes out, why did they do that after months of will she tell her.Poor Ronnie after living with the guilt of giving up her baby and then the realism of her being right in front of her for all those months and then mowed down and dead, bring her back can’t you make it a nightmare , for god’s sake Dallas did it.
I totally disagree. Yes, it was a heartbreaking scenario, but as good a character as Danielle was, I think the outcome is the right one. There’s so much more mileage to be got out of Ronnie. Her character is cold, yet underneath, so vulnerable, damaged, all because of what happened in her past.
To just give her a happy ending, ruins Ronnie’s character. I’ve never been so enthralled with an Eastender’s episode - the acting was superb from all characters - the atmosphere at the reception, the Vic transformed, the moment Archie is exposed. Absolutely brilliant.
And what now for Ronnie? Some great storylines, fantastic drama, staying true to what Ronnie is all about.
It’s to the credit of the writers/directors that we, the audience, were shouting NO! NO! at our screens this past week. Drama is conflict, and this was drama at its best.
Tell me, who really wanted a happy ending for Ronnie? In real life yes, but this aint real. It’s tv.
I agree, it was the worst ending to the best storyline ever. I cant believe they just killed her off within min of Ronnie finding out, (SO BAD)Everyone i know was hoping for this to have a happy ending. Ronnie needs a break SERIOUSLY she has nothing but hearth-ache since she came into the show and now you still drag it out by making Danielle’s adopted Dad accuse Ronnie of killing Danielle…….Cop on!
I really cannot believe that the ending was so badly writin. The viewers were hoping that they would see Danielle and Ronnie together, why couldn’t you put her into a Coma or something instead of killing her off???

I totally agree with all the comments of Clair above. Who in their right mind signed the script off and thought after one of the longest and most complex plots ever that it would be right to rob the fans of a happy ending? It was a catastrophic error of judgement and I for one will never watch Eastenders again which is sad because it is the only soap that appeals to me in any way.
In all honesty it was lazy script writing and has damaged the team of writers credibility.
To kill her off was bad enough but to do it in this way was lame. Janine Butcher running her down! ( Again who signed this off? They want sacking)
Also, If i was Samantha Janus i would seriously consider leaving because her dreary damaged goods character Ronnie is doing her no favours long term, and i can’t see that changing in light of view of recent events. She should also feel cheated of what should have been a great storyline after the revelation of Daniell’s identity.
To sum up I feel bereft, robbed and frustrated but thankful my eyes have been opened to what a load of tosh Eastenders really is.

yeah i agree i think sam janus should seriously think about her future she is a fantastic actress the ep where she held danielle untill she died her acting had me in tears she is fab and i think she has been cheated because they never give her charcter ronnie any happiness the storyline with jack the writers finished that then they have took her little girl away after speading her whole life missing her and then for them to make danielles father not let her anything to do with the funral and tell her it is her fault is just down right evil. i will be watching eastenders but i think they should bring danielle back or give ronnie some happines and let her plan her daughters funral and if ronnie leaves i wont be watching it ronnie and roxy are the only good charcters x x x
I have never missed one episode of eastenders since it started, But since the death of Daniell i don’t think me or my family, will be watching another episode unless they bring back Daniell. How could the script writter get it so wrong, I agree with the comments i have read. I honestly don’t think eastenders will keep running if they don’t soon get their act together, and get a desent script writter.
I have to say i agree with you all… eastenders has dissapointed us all with this storyline it was unnecessary to be so depressing all the time! I understand why they wanted to kill her off but did they have to do it 30seconds after she actually found out! Thats just cruel how could they think fans would like this? They should have at least let them get to know each other 1st even if it was for 1 episode people just wanted to see that… and if they dont care what the fans think then I will not be watching eastenders anyore and neither will alot more people after that disgraceful ending to a amazing storyline!

I really feel the scriptwriters have left the viewers of eastenders down and left everyone feeling cheated.I don’t think they have considered the viewers for a second and have built a story for some 5 months to simply rip it away at the last.As ever they have gone for the dire miserable ending and no doubt feel very proud of the reaction they have recieved and feel this justifies the story. They could not have chosen a more inappropriate ending to this storyline. On viewing the interviews with the scriptwriters it was very apparent they knew the reaction it would cause and for some reason could not see the untold story between mother and daughter. They have got this so wrong and all the forums are crammed with dismay at the ending they have chosen.I am really not one for soaps but this story really grabbed me and kept me viewing for the chance of the two bonding together and they could have built a bigger story between them moving forward. You have made a huge mistake and really let so many people down in 2 secs flat. I feel it only fair to applaud the tremendous acting of Samantha Janus and Lauren Crace as they were the reason we were so gripped. I would also say the scriptwriters have developed a story that is unrealistic as I cannot imagine any father going to such lengths to keep a mother and daughter apart. You really could not have got this any more wrong!! I for one feel so let down that I will no longer be viewing the show and I am sure the celebrating scriptwriters will not give a monkeys! They have cheapened the whole storyline with this outcome.

I agree with all of the above. Eastenders dragged this storyline for 6 months only to go and kill danielle off!!! Now they need to put it right cant they pretend danielle is dead by placing her in a coma to protect her from archie, a storyline like that would make good viewing because people will want to know if danielle lives. They done it before and they know it can work. All they have done is ruined a good story but most of all ruined ronnie who now will have nothing left as they have taken the last thing from her. Lauren and samantha work perfect together and i along with millions of other will agree. BRING BACK DANIELLE OR LOSE ALL YOUR FANS EASTENDERS!!! WHATS IT GOING TO BE???
Thursday’s episode of Eastenders was an example of bad script writing and unless they do something about it my family and I wont be watching it ever again. They had a good story line that got me watching and I was enjoying it for the first time in ages but you have lost the plot by killing her off I don’t know why this has been allowed. We were all looking forward to watching Dan and Ronnie get reunited and at last a nice storyline instead of your usual dramatized rubbish that we have to suffer a lot of the time.
I agree with all of the above. I think that if Danielle is not brought back somehow, Eastenders will lose many viewers. My suggestion would be that they find out shes still alive but only just and has a very weak pulse.
What a disaster!!!! Eastenders has gone down hill so much! I’v watched eastenders for 20 years but I won’t be watching it anymore. after all those months of waiting and waiting to see Danielle tell Ronnie she’s her daughter and as soon as she does they kill her off!!!! eastenders you’ve got it so wrong! I could of written a better script than that. bring Danielle back and they can’t say that they can’t bring someone who’s dead back coz they managed to bring dirty den back didn’t they? That should of been Archie infront of that car not Danielle. Eastenders seem to struggle to write happy scripts, everything is so morbid!!! come on eastender pull your finger out and do a decent job!!! I am furious having watching eatenders for months that they killed off the only decent storyline. There was so much left in that storyline, mother and daughter bonding, the abortion, the adoption . I will never watch eastenders again. Its all wrong and the scriptwrites obviously lack vision.
All i can say is i agree with the above comments; this has been the biggest mistake ever. Moreover, after all the compaliants that were made on Thursday instaed of cancelling Friday’s espisode and amending the storyline the production team went ahead with Friday’s episode; totally ignoring the viewers point of view. It gives an impression that what the consumer in this case the viewer wants is neglected all it matters is what the directors and strolyline writers have in their mind is the most fundamental thing that determines what is happening in Eastenders. Thus the most important part point of view- the viewer’s opinion is ignored. I feel that this situation has just shown how much the directors lost the touch with reality and the viewers and do what they are pleased to do. I juts would like to reriterate that I will never watch the show again.
Whoever decided that the script was a good idea really should be on the dole. Isnt it about time there was a happy ending on this show?? We all know that she is dead but if you think about it the only way you could bring her back is if you said it was all a dream now none of us will think that but i promises you that if you did bring her back n re write the storyline we wolud all understand that this would be the only way to bring her back and if your scared of gettin complaints for bringing her back there wont be it will more than likely praises and thankyous

I cant believe i sat and watched eastenders for the last 6 months,waiting for the Ron/Dani story to get going,what a waste of time the story writers must have been out of there minds wot a load of rubbish,the Branning story as been going on sooooooooooooooo long its boring,you had a great story going on now wot,Will phil turn to drink,will Ian sell a sandwich oh wot joy,you got it so wrong back to corrie i think.

well im afraid the amount of viewers will be decreasing from now on. it was a poor way to end this storyline. if danielle had to leave they could have done something else rather than killing her. this was the biggest storyline ever in eastenders so i dont understand why this has been done.
Give Ronnie some happiness with Jack or someone and a baby of her own. Change the Dot and Dottie story, don’t let Dottie assist Nick to kill Dot or to hurt her. Do not turn Stacey into a man eater.
I like everybody else feel totally cheated at the scripwriters absurd end to the Danielle and Ronnie storyline. They have showed no loyalty to the fans of eastenders and I like many others feel I no longer want to watch it. The possible future story could have been one of the most watched in the history of Eastenders but it has now been blown apart, now what is left to be worth watching? The scriptwriters have made a gross error of judgement.The two actresses involved are two of the most strongest in the show and would have made compulsive viewing. Bring Danielle back at all costs I don’t know how but it can be done with clever scriptwriting, it has been done before. If you don’t I think it could well be the beginning of the end for Eastenders.
And the soap gets worse. Now Peggy - a caring mother and always despairing at her children getting into trouble - has asked her son Phil to traumatise himself and face a life-wrecking jail sentence by killing Archie. What?! They killed Danielle - the most gentle and beautiful character for yonks - to move the plot to this implausible scenario?
Phil’s revenge on Archie can only be a second-rate Reservoir Dogs because of the pre-watershed timeslot. And because of this timeslot, kids will be encouraged to carry out revenge attacks and commit more violence. Just what the country needs! Danielle would have been a positive influence and role-model.
Dearest Danielle, they sacrificed you for this tosh, but it’s Easter. Arise from the dead and redeem Eastenders!!
Guys, I think I know what happened. Simon Ashdown, judging by his appearance, is on the run from the police. He was sat in his office about to write the final scene when he heard the sirens. So he quickly scribbled down the usual crap about a road accident then legged it down the fire escape.
Ok, maybe not, but his script was certainly criminal!
I have watched eastenders since it started but in recent years I have noticed that some charecters are never alowed to have any happy outcomes e.g. Billy. So many story lines end in misery that eastenders has become quite depressing! However, the script writers have topped their “genius” for depressing and disappointing outcome with the death of Danielle and I really do feel that I will quit eastenders, much to the releif of the rest of my family who gave up quite a few disasters ago!
I think they got this wrong because they underestimated the appeal of Danielle’s character. Many are affected by her issue of rejection but also, alot of girls (and boys) struggle with shyness - myself included - and it was nice to see myself reflected on screen. It was also refreshing to see a more positive representation of women - a million miles away from the usual tarts, ladettes and murderesses in Albert Square!
I also think they underestimated Lauren Crace. Sweet-looking actors are incredibly powerful because when they do extreme emotions, their looks make the audience sympathise with them even more. The tender moments between her and Ronnie were too few but were incredibly moving. The writers do not fully appreciate the impact of these tender moments. Plots can be driven by love as well as conflict and violence. Looking at where things are going, I think the writers have been watching too much Sopranos/Guy Ritchie and are trying to emulate their magic, but they won’t succeed. A family audience (this is supposed to be a family show but you wouldn’t think it) will not want to see people (especially loveable innocent ones like Danielle) going through immense agony and being killed in horrific circumstances. They’ll just switch off. EE needs to re-connect with its target audience.
I’m voting for Samantha Janus in the soap awards, but also for Corrie. EE shouldn’t win.

Didn’t the writers see that this ending makes the storyline pointless? Ronnie thought that her daughter was dead all along anyway, so what’s the point of her finding her daughter is alive, and then killing her five minutes later? They might as well have left the storyline as it was before, and Danielle was never in it. Sure, Archie will now get his comeuppance, but I don’t see why Danielle had to die for this to happen. I’ve watched Eastenders from the start, and will continue to watch it, but I’ve never allow myself to get so involved in a storyline/character again.

I’m angry with the writers’ and producers’ attitude in this programme. Through the character of Danielle Jones, they have treated the common problems of adoption and rejection by a mother far too coldly, merely as a plot device, and did not consider the real depressing effects it would have on the young people empathising with the character and these problems. These young people need such issues to be handled with care and realistic optimism - not intense tragedy. If upsetting deaths to such likeable characters are to occur before 9pm, the public must be told in advance so younger or more sensitive viewers have the choice whether or not to watch. This was a desperate and uncaring attempt to boost ratings and shock people. On Eastenders Revealed, the writers showed their appalling lack of consideration by their dismissive and arrogant attitude towards this storyline. Deiderick Santer also displayed immense insensitivity for viewers in his statement when he described the distress he caused as ‘fantastic’. This is a disgrace and now he must finally show humility and apologise for the distress he has caused.

As a guy who is desperately seeking his birth father I have followed Danielle’s story with interest.
A few nights before the story line’s sick denouement, I actually suffered my worst ever nightmare, where I dreamed my own daughter was hit by a car! So I really did NOT need this sensationalist crap.
My solution: Ronnie was the one who was hit by the car! Ronnie is dreaming this insensitive, cop-out of a so called plot. Don’t shout “Dallas” at me, this would be a damn sight more realistic than a THIRD Butcher running someone down!
Come on guys. Danielle is not dead in real life! It’s just a story and as tragic as it is, tragedy does happen in real life. What about all the young soldiers they bring back in coffins which happens nearly every month now. It is just a piece of theatre. Worst things happen in Shakesperian plays! I do think it is a good story line but I think plotting to murder Archie might be taking it a little too far, but it wouldn’t be entertaining if they didn’t do this. I cried watching Danielle’s death scene but this is the effect the writers want. It is much better than coronation street’s storyline which is just getting totally boring at the moment. Becky’s wedding was a total disappointment and that thing with Ken Barlow and his fancy woman is like watching paint dry. Lauren Crace ’s contract was only for 6 months but they extended it to 8 months. She had begged the producers to make her character more exciting anyway and she had to be written out. She’d want to go off and do other things and probably get an even bigger and better part in something else. And shes probably got a part in a west end musical lined up so wouldn’t want to be in it permanently. I do enjoy watching Eastenders but I can take it or leave it. Why bother complaining just switch off it you don’t like it. Don’t worry I am sure she will back on her screens very soon. Anyway good to see more Brummies on tv. Only wish Josie Lawrence would just be a brummie and do her regional accent.
Some really interesting comments on here and the writers would do well to take note. My own thoughts are that there are too many male writers writing for a predominantly female audience. So the writers want to see flashy red sports cars zooming around, big fights and gangster-style torture, but their largely female audience also wants to see the development of interesting characters and relationships and occasional happy endings.
Of course, we don’t want them to patronise us with fairytales, but they need to put a bit more thought into the situations they create. Mother-daughter relationships are fundamental to every girl/woman and Danielle and Ronnie would have touched the hearts of millions. So this is one story that really should have been explored further and with much more care. Ronnie’s extreme sadness and Danielle’s awful death were just too tragic and upsetting to watch. The writers should have thought about the people touched by Ronnie and Danielle and not just treated these characters coldly as plot devices.
Eastenders bosses are in a crisis now and it is because they have not considered the effects their characters have on the audience. It is essential that they think about the audience and listen to viewers’ complaints seriously because it is the viewers who will make or break them.
I think they wasted the chance of a great story line.If I had wrote the story line Id of done this…I think they should of get Danielle to keep the baby. She should of told Ronnie in the aportion clinic that she wasnt going to kill her (Ronnies) grandchild,throw the locket at Ronnie and run out. Then we could of had 9 months to see the relationship grow between them n then Danielle could of died in child birth leaving Ronnie holding the baby and then we could of seen if she would of got down the adoption road again or if she would keep the baby,if she kept the baby we could of seen if she would be a good mother or not.I think this would of gave everyone what they wanted.
I have a way out of this sorry mess. It’s Easter, yet no one’s talking about Jesus coming back from the dead but want Danielle to come back from the dead! TV is the new Christianity and Danielle is obviously the new Jesus! So, what they should do is have a one-off special called ‘EasterEnders’ in which Danielle’s body has to be exhumed for evidence. Ronnie is seen weeping by her grave like the Virgin Mary (far from a virgin, but never mind). However, when they open the coffin, her body is gone. Later that evening, everyone is in the Vic having an Easter celebration when in walks Danielle in a grubby shawl saying God brought her back from the dead. No one would even dare criticise it because it would be like criticising God’s resurrection of Jesus. Problem solved!

Obviously many people are upset by the ending of this storyline. The writers are loving this; all this talking about it is like a Christmas Present to them.
I agree completly that it was a huge mistake. Not only did it make the storyline pointless but it was an abrupt and frustrating ending to a storyline that had been going on for 6 months. I hear their intention was always to kill her, so why drag it out for so long? The answer is simple: ratings. Everything they could do in that ep they did; Janine/Jack, Archie/Peggy, Ronnie/Danielle. The annoying thing is now Ronnie will be the same as ever. How they thought viewers would not want to see a mother daughter reunion baffles me.
I’m not the biggest fan but I do enjoy EE and I’m annoyed. Even casual viewers I have spoken to are annoyed and are saying well that was pointless. The whole thing was pointless. And now we just have more depression that will lead to me at least switching off. We’ve got Heather being pregnant coming up, Ian being Ian as usual, more Tanya/Max (unmittigated joy! This storyline was fantastic… 15 months ago).
Overall a disspointing ending to an extremly dragged out storyline. I mean seriously… it was all going towards that? Maybe a good ending to a novel but not to a soap storyline. This is rubbish EE.
Here in Australia we will have about 4 months to wait for this episode to air, but I for one wi be happy to miss this episode. I have been watching and waiting for this story line to end HAPPILY, but now sadly it appears that it wont. I have been watching this show since it first aired here years ago and have taped episodes so I don’t miss them. I am however so dissapointed that over the many years there seems to be the same “type” of story lines occuring… That is that NO person ever seems to live a happy life. WHY do so many characters die sad deaths or live miserabe lives?(Billy comes to mind quickly). Also why does this show revolve so much around ONE famiy, MITCHELL’s??? Why not rename the show “The Mitchell’s” ????

I think the death of Danielle’s character was: totally unimaginative as far too many stupid recurring death scenes by car crash on the very same bloody square took place already! It was manipulative, callous, ignorantly and arrogantly superficial, spiteful, disrespectful and insulting for sooooo many, myself included!

But if read what diedrick the script writer of Eastender wrote about all this Danielle and ronnie story, he’s soooo happy he wanted to create uproar and he just wanted to get the highest rating for veiwers, well he clocked 11.5 millions veiwers that night danielle died. so he wrote that story line all for himself just so the ratings goes up…..HE DIDN’T/DOESN’T CARE FOR THE AUDIANCE.HE’S SELFISH!!!IF WE ALL STICK TOGETHER,LET THE RATINGS DROP NOW…DON’T WATCH IT ANYMORE!!!I WONT BE.!!!
Typical!!The writers only concerned about the ratings and not what the viewers want,well im gonna stop watching the program after they dont care to listen what viewers want.
They were given chance to sort out the storey line and bring Danielle bk.but we all know now its gone to long and as long as they got the ratings thats all that matters to them.They think people will carry on watching there Eastenders and will soon forget about there mess up of Danielle dieing.
I agree with u all it was a dragged out storey line,but was interesting enough to keep me hooked and for what,the hope of them forming a mother and daughter relationship,oh no they gave us death insted,doom gloom and sadness is what we get after 6 months.
No more Eastenders for me and Coronation street get my vote this year at the awards.
Eastenders u had your chance to sort it and you would of had the support off your viewers on how ever you wanted to do it,even if it wasnt realistic.we wanted to see ronnie and Danielle form a relationship,i think we deserved that after 6 months of viewing.

Danielle was a rubbish actress & had to go! Although, the way she left the show, i agree, it should have been done differently. Maybe after a month of getting to know each other, Danielle could have gone on a trip & then died. The producers had no plans to keep her long term after realsing how absymal her acting skills were, her scenes set against Samantha Janus (an outstanding actress) were so cringeworthy & painful to watch. Those that say they’ll be boycotting EE, gwarn, you’ll be back one by one. EE may make mistakes like this one, but that doesn’t detract it from being the best British soap ever!
Apparently the boycott didn’t work then lol. The viewing figures were up on the following monday. The aussie viewer who said they won’t watch this episode, if you’re any true EE fan, you will watch it, it was the best EE episode to date with the most incredible acting from “Ronnie Mitchell” to date.
Lauren was in one of the best youth theatres and is RADA trained. I’m guessing you’re not so she obviously knows a hell of a lot more about acting than you do.
I was absolutely outraged at the conclusion of the Ronnie/Danielle storyline.
Apparently the writers feel that Ronnie was defined by the loss of her daughter when she was 14 and that made her the charecter she was, they say she would only have changed had she been given what she’d always wanted (her daughter) and the new Ronnie may not have been popular with the audience, who see her as a “Tragic Heroine” further to that, the feel that viewers would have become bored with watching Ronnie and Danielle as mother and daughter.
Although i can understand their point of view, i for one feel, that seven months of waiting just to see Ronnie more depressed than ever was a waste of a storyline. Couldnt they have done something really interesting such has have Danielle kill off Archie, even if this meant she had to spend time in prison, surely it would have been better leaving the door open for her to return than shutting it completely. Also it would have been lovely to see Ronnie and Danielle get to know eachother as mother and daughter.
Apparently in the coming weeks, we are to see Ronnie Mitchells appearance and mental health start to change dramatically….. meaning shes going to start to go mad. Give poor Ronnie a bit of happiness - killing danielle was a big mistake!
to be honest the whole dannielle death thing has putme of so badly and i jope everyone will just stop watching eastenders or do suming else cuz that waz a crap storyline.

I saw EE last night (recorded not watched, I’m no traitor!) and it is now back to the usual ugliness (Phil getting legless and coming on to Shirley - urgh) and ridiculousness (Dotty’s lame impression of Wednesday Adams, Darren and Libby running around like the meddling kids on Scooby Doo, not to mention Tanya falling for Max again even though he had an affair with his son’s wife and Tanya tried to bury him alive!).
I’d been hoping that after the thousands and thousands of complaints they’d have done the decent things: apologised and re-written the episodes. But they obviously have no decency and are arrogantly refusing to admit they were wrong. They need to realise they cannot toy with our emotions and get away with it.
Nothing in EE now compares to the beautifully delicate relationship between Danielle and Ronnie. Everyone was touched by this mother and daughter who after a lifteime apart had the chance to make up for that sad time. Our hopes that they would be reconciled after such a tragic separation provided crucial light and optimism in an otherwise dark and depressing programme. The touching moments between them at R&R, the abortion clinic or Ronnie’s flat were the most moving scenes on EE for a long time. If only their relationship had carried on and there were more moments like this, EE would have been unmissable TV. I would have put up with the other nonsense in the show just to watch Ronnielle. But the writers ended this fascinating relationship because they didn’t have the ability or the imagination to develop this delicate situation further.
The writers said they always came back to that ending. That’s because their brains started hurting when they tried to think outside the box (the coffin). They also said Danielle’s death was always part of the plan. Well, they need to research the effects their characters and portrayals are having on the audience and learn to think on their feet. If the credit crunch is hitting them, instead of getting rid of their hard working actors, their lazy writers should be given a pay cut.
I know they’ve nearly hammered the final nail in Danielle’s coffin but if there is any chance we can get her back we should try because EE has lost something very special. The writers should do some work for once and use their imaginations to think how she could come back. Danielle’s body has to be exhumed for evidence but when they open the coffin it’s not her body. Archie returns in summer and at the end of an episode, we see him holding Danielle captive. Turns out that after Ronnie and Andy left the morgue, Archie went to see the body to apologise to Danielle. Whilst he was there, he discovered Danielle had a pulse but had body paralysis and was mistakenly pronounced dead. So, Archie put a similar looking dead girl in Danielle’s place in the morgue. He then kidnapped Danielle and is now holding her captive to keep her from Ronnie. However, it all comes out and mother and daughter are happily reunited. A bit far fetched I know but it’s better than it all being a dream. Plus, they’d win back 93% of fans!
what a load of shit!!!! i have watched eastenders since i was a young child every time it is on and i have never been so disgusted what a bad ending to a good story line y would u do that to your faithful viewers we sat 4 months waiting and waiting 4 a happy ending and u just ruined it nw i can understand y my husband says y r u watching that crap because thats all it is crap i most certainly will not be watching it anymore i hope eastenders gets thrown off air thats wat they deserve!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wish they could get Danielle back on EastEnders but they can’t do that. I have been waiting five months for Ronnie to find out and then she dies.I go on about EastEnders to my family and yap to my friends about EastEnders and Diederick knows what he has done wrong.I really miss Danielle.

Common sense should have told the writers we’d get attached to Ronnie’s daughter, especially if she’s tragic, adorable and beautiful like Ronnie. Just shows they don’t think about the audience but are only writing for themselves.
EE can’t write tragedy. Shakespeare’s leading characters didn’t meet tragic ends unless they deserved it (even Hamlet was a murderer) or had experienced sufficient true happiness. It’s poetic justice. Vice should be punished and virtue rewarded. Where was the reward for the already tragic but virtuous Danielle? 17 seconds was not sufficient true happiness. EE compared Danielle and Ronnie to Romeo and Juliet (Danielle bought the DVD) so I will. Romeo and Juliet fall in love, marry and consummate their relationship - sufficient happiness - so when the tragedy happens, the audience don’t feel cheated or intense injustice. There is a balance of happiness and tragedy. Shakespeare gave Romeo and Juliet much more happiness in three hours than EE gave Danielle and Ronnie in eight months!
Ha, you’re right, Col. They’ve a long way to go before they can compare themselves to Shakespeare. From the start, the writers only saw Danielle as a device to develop Ronnie. Well, they shouldn’t have given her such a sad backstory that would make people care about her. No actress would ever play a character like Danielle as a plot device and the audience being decent people wouldn’t have seen her as such. So when the writers coldly subject a character we love to immense sadness, no happiness, a lazy and brutal death and a rushed funeral, we hate them for it. Danielle would have affected many, so she should have been treated more sympathetically and as a character in her own right, not just as an animal in the headlights to develop Ronnie’s character. And we hate that the other characters have forgotten her and are not reflecting our grief.
Could she have been a twin? or stolen the real daughter’s identity because she was a depressed and troubled girl looking for a mother of her own….this would open the way for the real daughter to come back as an angry person seeking revenge against a mother that gave her away, until she knows the truth about Archie.

Iv`e thought of an amazing idea. well the one i came up with is that pual the father of the adopted baby could of knocked out some of the docters telling ronnie that she is dead and archie could of payed pual money to do that. just an idea and its a dam better one then ures
This is the honest truth..I haven’t watched Eastenders consequitively in 2 years…I started around a little time after Danielle came on…My friends and Family were talking about it non-stop. So I tuned Eastenders on sat my self on the settee to watch it.
well now I hate it and dont watch it…b/c of their Stupidity. That episode was so Emotional and I actually cried, and had Goosbumps from the Emotion it was unreal.
But the unnecessary Death of Ronnie’s daugther Danielle was Uncalled for and a Disgracfull Error.
*sigh* Just when I thought Eastenders producers/Writers got the whole Audience (of all ages) hooked and glued to their seats..their eyes fixed on the oh so wonderful Soap that is Eastenders..they go and do a thing like that.

But I must agree that the writers need to get a grip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I mean how many people have been killed/run over on the square now???? It’s just so predictable! Come on.
