The emergence of David Essex as one of the shows new characters, in the shape of Eddie Moon, has taken many people by surprise and given the show a new lease of life. However the strained relationship between father and son Eddie and Michael Moon is set to move into very different territory with Eddie under the impression that Michael burnt his “stock” when in reality it was not him.
The situation has been complicated by the fact that Michael Moon has been taunting his father, suggesting he had burned his stock, and this has pushed his father over the edge. This evening we saw Eddie Moon talking with Jack Branning, suggesting that Michael had been commenting upon Ronnie and an “alleged relationship”. The truth is that Eddie Moon is well aware that Michael has not been spreading any “fresh” rumours but he seems more than happy to have a word in the ear of people close to Michael to make sure that he “gets his comeuppance”.
Over the last few weeks we have seen the emergence of a very dark side of Michael Moon who would seem to be struggling from some form of psychiatric condition. It is unclear whether the unexpected appearance of his father has brought back his memories of childhood or indeed whether the situation with Jack, Ronnie and Roxy has “pushed him over the edge”. Either way, while there is no doubt that Eddie Moon is most certainly streetwise, and ready to clamber over people to get his own way, Michael Moon has a very dark and very destructive side which we are yet to see in its full “glory”.
The relationship between Eddie Moon and his various sons will come to the fore in the weeks and months ahead and we await future spoilers to see exactly what is going on.
