Anita Dobson played was one of the most popular characters ever in Eastenders, Angie Watts, and was involved in the 1986 Christmas Day show which attracted 30 million viewers!
While she has left a mark on the show, many will be surprised to find out that she was only in the show from 1985 to 1988. Despite numerous attempts to get her to return to Eastenders, Anita Dobson never gave BBC bosses any encouragement and “Angie Watts” was finally killed off in 2002 and brought home to be buried.
Anita Dobson has had a very successful personal and professional life, married to Queen Guitarist Brian May, she has appeared in shows such as :-

Casualty
Holby City
The Bill
to name but a few.
Anita Dobson also had a brief singing career, but will be forever remembered for her role as the Queen Vic’s alcoholic landlady Angie Watts. The ups and downs of her on-off relationship with husband Den Watts (Leslie Grantham) kept the UK public glued to their TV sets for years.

But Anita will always be remembered as the first lady of the Queen Vic and is an iconic figure and still has a large following to this day.
For where are they now - since leaving EastEnders in 1988 - Anita has appeared in MANY theatre productions over the years (please see the Biography Pages on her website) and not forgetting guest appearances on a great deal of T/V shows too (soon to be seen in the first episode of the new series of ‘Hotel Babylon’ for BBC1.
