It was a big night for Eastenders residents as the R&R club would be having a special event for some rich business types, Roxie went out on an expensive date and The Beale Twins would be having a birthday party.

Jane had received a card addressed to “Lesley and Ian Beale” which she promptly put in the bin. She had gone to a lot of trouble in preparing some nice food, only to be told by Ian that she had done “red food” and it contained too much fat and sugar. She emptied one plate into the bin and Ian saw the card (a wedding invitation?).

Dawn’s nose was put out of joint by Ronnie as she was told that she would not be working in the club in the bar, as it was a sophisticated event and agency staff would be used. She was asked to be toilet attendant and provide people with hand towels, aftershave or perfume and hand cream. Ronnie had also purchased a new suit for Jase as security/doorman. Dawn wanted to wear a classy outfit for the event but could not afford it. Gary, ever the gentleman, pawned the engagement ring that he had bought for Dawn, and gave her the money to buy some new clothes. Dawn insisted that Gary also went to the club, but as cloakroom help.

Dawn turned up at the R&R club looking stunning in a blue/turquoise dress and attracting the attention of not only Jase and Gary but two of the guests. Dawn was being chatted up and Jase stepped in for a “Gentleman’s Excuse Me” dance. As they danced, Jase spotted that Dawn’s drink was spiked with drugs and threw the guys out. Dawn thought that she was being used and following a chat with Gary (who all but proposed), she left the club with a broken heel on one of her silver shoes. After struggling with her house keys, Jase turned up and explained about the drugs and Gary appeared with her missing shoe – like Prince Charming and Cinderella.

Elsewhere in Albert Square, newly housed Eastenders Honey and Billy had some fun with a Twister game (and invited Gus and Minty too). Heather thought of a theme for the “Design your dream wedding “ competition and unfortunately looked like an Eastend Blues Brother rather than 1930s chic.
