In an emotionally charged episode of Eastenders we saw the plight of three ladies with differing problems, struggling to cope with life.

Carly

Racked with guilt, Carly feels responsible for the departure of “dad” Kevin, after her vicious verbal assault.  Deano knows something happened and will not let it lie, pushing Carly to the edge.  She struggles to concentrate at work, under pressure, tired and worried about Kevin she takes desperate measures. 

Working to a strict deadline for a job at the garage she makes simple mistakes, unable to concentrate on anything but her family problems.  Phil turns up to turn the screw when she cracks and begins smashing up a customer’s car. Carly is then thrown out the garage, putting yet more pressure on her fragile state of mind.

Dawn 

Over at the Queen Vic, Dawn is finding it difficult to accept May and Rob enjoying themselves in the pub.  She is dismayed when Peggy accuses her of eating to get over Rob, hence her “large stomach” - although unknown to Peggy, Dawn is carrying Rob’s love child. 

As the night draws on she finds it harder and harder to watch Rob and May, when finally she cracks and announces to the pub that she is having Rob’s baby - a stunned silence comes over the regulars of the Vic’.

Dot 

Elsewhere the loss of Sonia, Martin and Rebecca is hitting Dot and Jim hard, with Dot inparticular feeling that her world has been turned upside down.  Conscious that Dot blames herself, Jim relates to her concerns and organises a short weekend break for the couple - much needed.
