Eastenders is shown in many places around the world and the appeal of the show has been increasingly. However, while the Danielle and Ronnie storyline may well affect short-term viewing figures it looks as though Eastenders is literally a worldwide phenomenon. We thought it would be interesting to see where our viewers live, which should show us how popular the show is in countries around the world.
We would therefore be grateful, without posting personal details, if you would let us know your age, which country you live in and how long you have been watching Eastenders. We hope to build up a profile of those using the site and bring some interesting and informative posts to you, together with many competitions in the future.

I am 69 years old and live in the United States. I’ve been watching EE since it started here in 1987.
I am 21 From the UK, and Eastenders has always been a part of my life.
I’m in my 50’s, currently residing in Dubai, but have managed to keep up with the soap on BBC Prime (although we are a few weeks behind, I think).
I have followed the trials and tribulations of Albert Square since the first episode
I’m British, living in France, and watch Eastenders on BBC Prime (I think the episodes are a couple of weeks behind the UK schedule). I’ve been watching for about six months.
i live in Delhi india. am 33 years old and have watched Estenders since it began (originally from the UK).
i am 19 have been watching ee for as long as i can remember. but to be honest the danielle and ronnie story line recently was the only reason i had been watching in recent months due to the doom and gloom, and now danielle is dead i dont want to watch as its such a huge let down.
i dont want to see ronnie get more and more depressed sorry ee big huge mistake! maybe viewing figures wont stay down for so long but you have certainly lost ALOT of fans! well done!
I live in Zambia, although I am British. It is the highlight of my working day to come home & watch EE.

Australia took it off on friday nights crys
I live in Australia, I’m in my fifties - my whole family watch Eastenders so the age range (including my 5 grandchildren) would be from 7 years, 9, 11, 13, 14, 15 & 15, 18, 21, 32, 35 and myself. I’ve always watched it except for when the ABC here in Australia ended transmission sometime in the late 80s or early 90s. Now watch it on pay tv.
Kara
im 16 been watching eastenders for like 6 years
from england
I’m 49 and live in Houston, TX. I saw Eastenders for the first time while visiting the UK in 1987. Now I watch it on the local PBS station, but it’s been on so long (Sharon and Ian were teenagers!), I can’t remember when I discovered it was being aired. We only get one hour every Sunday night, so I’m starved for it. I LOVE IT!
Im 33 from england and ive been watching it since the first ever episode. But the story lines are poor these days, tedious stories get dragged out forever and brilliant storylines like dannielle and her mother get dropped just when they really get started. At one time i would never miss an episode but these days will watch the odd one, hoping that the ‘old eastenders’ type of storylines may have returned. Its grim down south these days.
I’m 42, live in the US, and have been watching regularly for the last 7 years or so… My parents started watching from the beginning. But our local PBS station is about 2 years behind in the episodes!!

I am 60, live in the US. Have watched EE since WETA started showing it in the 80’s! I also see it when I’m in the UK. several times a year. But since the US is behind I have forgotten I’ve seen it before! I would certainly miss it if it was cancelled here.
A great many people follow eastenders here in Malta some as a result of watching it in UK. Transmission but new transmission times are not popular. Let’s have 19.oo CET & the omnibus on Sunday again please.

I am purchasing it for $10 month thru Dish Network (the only reason I have that vendor). I love it as you can see. Sure would love to see Kat & Alfie back again.

My name is Bruce, I’ll be 24 in a few days and I’m from south-east Queensland, Australia.
I’ve been watching Eastenders since 2004.
My family in South Africa watch it and are about 2 months behind. They love it.
Been watchin since early 80’s and now in South Africa for 5 years. My wife has never been to the Uk but is more of a fan than me! Hope to continue watching when we move to the States
I am an ex-pat living in South Africa and I am 58 years of age. Have been watching the programme since installing DSTV two years ago. Shame you killed of Danielle. Was looking forward to mother/daughter reunion.
Hi.
Been watching EE for 15 years or so and it is a highlight of my viewing sched. Live in Canada. We get five episodes per week, but are three years behind on BBC Canada. Am 62 yrs.
I started watching when I moved over to the UK in 1996 and I am now again living in South Africa and am still watching would not miss it for anything
Hi - I am a Londoner living in New Zealand for the past 38 years and still call London my home! Eastenders has been here eratically - now we have to get Sky TV to be able to watch it..Grrrrr…..as they have bought the rights…I am 68 now and have watched it almost all it’s life on the box since it started.
From Hungary, 22 years, a big fan of EE. Started watching it about 6 years ago, when bbc prime first aired it. as bbc prime lacks behind with the storyline, i use the net to stay up-to-dated. would be great if ibbc videos would be reachable outside of UK too. till then i have my sources
Hi there, I’m 59 years old and stay in South Africa. I’ve been watching eastenders for 5 months now and absolutely love it.
Kia ora I’m 30y.o and I’m from New Zealand. I’ve been watching eastenders for 6months and really enjoyed it. But now they have switched my favourite soapy on to sky which that pissed me off…Anyway I was able to follow up by internet all the parts of missed.
I’ve been watching EE since its start and love it. I go the the US several times a year for a few weeks each time and the current shows are NOT AVAILABLE THERE! So I miss all those episodes. (It is shown once a week for one hour but is a few years behind.) Until recently I could view short clips of the most recent episodes, and get a small dose of my EE fix, but this year even those clips have stopped being available. As it’s shown all over the world, why can’t it be shown in the US??
I have been watching EE since 1999 and I have been hooked since. I live in Germany and I am 38 years old. Ooh, I say.
I’m addicted to East Enders, I’m 43 yrs old and live in Australia. I’ve been watching it for years.
I’ve been watching EE first in GB and when we moved to france we carried on through the ADSL, Im 45 and my husband is 50 it is our regular saturday ritual to watch the omnibus of the serie !
I am 62 years old, been watching EE since I found it being broadcast on a world satellite link to Japan back in 1987. I also can only get it now on Dishnet on pay-per-view, and I’m told they have a “lock” on it, and no one else can carry it. Does anyone know if this is true? I think BBC America should put it back on for us loyal fans, like it used to be.
Oh yeah, I live in Coos Bay, Oregon, USA. Thanks
I’m 54 and live in Clinton, Maryland, USA. I’ve been watching from the beginning on WETA-TV from Washington, DC. WETA is now horribly behind the UK (currently showing episodes from January, 2003). I dropped my cable TV and got Dish Network because they offered BBC America which showed EastEnders (larded with commercials so the 2-hour omnibus took 2 1/2 hours to air). Then BBCA dropped EE. Dish Network picked up EE and offers it (commercial free) for $10 per month and the episodes are 5 to 6 weeks behind the UK.
are you sure you want togo ahead with the sayeed and christian storyline?
like eastenders though
live in the USA BBC America carried current EE. it was dropped from their schedul in 2003. I am getting 1 hour a week when PBS is not having a drive we are now in 2003 just about where I was when BBC America decided they did not have enough viewers to run EE. I am still heartbroken over their decision
I have seen every epp since 2002. Of course have to steal them off the internet because they are 6 years behind here on PBS. They show two epps a week at 11 O’Clock at night. On a TUESDAY!!!:(
