One of Eastenders most popular characters is set to leave the show with Barbara Windsor citing long days on the set as one of the main reasons why she has chosen to call it a day on Eastenders. However, there are rumours behind the scenes that she has had a fallout with the producers of the show which is why she is looking elsewhere for the future. The very fact that she has plans to move into other areas of entertainment may well support this theory.

If she does leave the show, Peggy Mitchell will be sorely missed by many at a time when more and more Eastenders fans are complaining that their old characters are being ignored in place of younger characters for the younger audience. It is not altogether clear how Peggy Mitchell will leave but there are rumours that the Queen Vic will be the victim of an arson attempt in the short term and she may actually get back with their former fiancee Archie. Whether this would be a good idea remains to be seen!

While Eastenders has done very well to keep many of the major storylines under wraps it is known that a number of explosive storylines are planned for the Christmas period and the New Year with Ian Beale and Jane set to play a prominent role in the short to medium term. But what exactly will happen?
