Another one of the Eastenders fringe characters looks set to leave Walford.   Actress Babita Pohoomull, who plays Preeti Choraria, will be leaving early next year.  She has been in the show for just over a year, and has not really featured much in that time.  She had relationships with Bradley and Sean, but has largely been an extra (ala Gus).  Show producers decided to let her leave after the character ‘failed to make an impression on the audience’.  It is hardly a surprise given her lack of storylines!  Preeti will leave Albert Square after Mickey rejects her, and she realises that there is nothing left for her in Walford.

Meanwhile, Bill Treacher has revealed that his role in Eastenders had a dramatic effect on his health.  Treacher played Arthur Fowler between 1986 and 1996, and was one of the original cast members.  The actor has explained that he constantly suffered from migraines and exhaustion due to the heavy workload.  Things were so bad, that sometimes during filming he could hardly see other actor’s faces due to the migraines.  He was diagnosed with stomach condition diverticulitis, which made working even harder.  He asked to leave the soap in 1994, but producers delayed his departure for another year.
